Michel Vaerewijck is een creatieve ziel die een grote honger heeft naar experiment in zijn werk. Wij presenteerden beelden uit volgende series: Voyou (2007), ECCE H (2012), L Series (2012), Cabinet L (2013), Arrow of Time (2014) en What I can’t show (2015). Deze reeksen zijn analoog gemaakt. Reeksen waar hij teruggrijpt naar de ‘unica plaatfotografie’ – zoals ferrotypie, ambrotypie en opalotypie. Ondanks alle technieken en oude procedés, primeert boven alles het beeld natuurlijk. Het beeld waarin Michel Vaerewijck vooral eerlijkheid en authenticiteit opzoekt. Maar toch, niet onbelangrijk, deze procedés zorgen wel voor de subtiele sensaties waar wij zo van houden. Zijn werk is een fascinerende symbiose tussen onderwerp en intimiteit. Intimiteit die als een rode draad doorheen zijn werk loopt. Hij streeft naar beelden die een emotie kunnen vatten die breder gaan dan zijn persoonlijk gevoel. Deze tentoonstelling bezoeken betekende een poëtische ervaring, het was een zeer mooie afsluiter voor ons vijfde seizoen.

Michel Vaerewijck is a creative soul with a great hunger for experimentation in his work. We presented images from the following series: Voyou (2007), ECCE H (2012), L Series (2012), Cabinet L (2013), Arrow of Time (2014) and What I can't show (2015). These series are made analogous. Series where he goes back to "unica plate photography" - such as ferrotype, ambrotype and opalotype. Despite all the techniques and old processes, the image prevails above all. The image in which Michel Vaerewijck mainly looks for honesty and authenticity. But still, not unimportantly, these processes provide the subtle sensations we love so much. His work is a fascinating symbiosis between subject and intimacy. Intimacy that runs like a thread through his work. He strives for images that can capture an emotion that goes beyond his personal feeling. Visiting this exhibition was a poetic experience, it was a very nice ending to our fifth season.
